Caution

Please read the following issues carefully to avoid unintended problems.

Synchronization Indicators

You can distinguish the status of the note synchronization process through the color of the note.

  • Black color (or white in dark mode) indicates that the note has been synchronized or is in a local state (not set for synchronization).
  • Yellow color indicates that the note has modifications on the device.
  • Green color indicates that the note has received the latest changes from the synchronization server.

As soon as you open the application and have an internet connection, OpenNotas will try to update the latest changes from the server.

Editor Switching

Although multiple text editors are integrated to diversify the display and editing capabilities, switching between editors can cause unintended data changes.

Specifically, CodeMirror and Tiptap have different ways of handling text, so if a note was initially created using CodeMirror and then switched to Tiptap for editing, it may result in different outputs and alter the content of the note, and vice versa. Therefore, make sure you understand how the editor switching feature works before switching between them.

Editing Notes Offline

If you have synchronization enabled and use multiple devices, while a note is being edited in offline mode, in order to synchronize those changes to the server, you need to connect to the internet and keep the application open until the yellow indicator returns to the normal black color (or white in dark mode).

Password Change

Be cautious when changing your password as it involves a complex handling process. When changing the password, locked notes will be unlocked and immediately re-locked with the new password. This means that the data will be re-encrypted from scratch during the password change process. It is best to have an internet connection and limit changes to locked notes on other devices before completing the password change process.

Be Cautious with Browser Applications/Actions that Delete Data

Be careful with any cleanup applications on your computer or actions that delete website data in the browser. OpenNotas utilizes the browser-provided memory to store note data. If that memory is cleared, it poses a risk of deleting the note data.
